Ep. 47 | One of the UK's finest new-build country houses: Shilstone

Continuing our series on new-build country houses, we are joined by Sebastian Fenwick of Shilstone House in Devon

Continuing our three-part series on new country houses, in this podcast episode we are delighted to be joined by Sebastian Fenwick - owner of Shilstone House in Devon and the 2011 winner of the Georgian Group’s Award for ‘Best New Building in the Classical Tradition.’

When Sebastian and Lucy Fenwick arrived at Shilstone almost 30 years ago, they found a run-down Georgian farmhouse and an overgrown valley with the remnants of a series of medieval fishponds.

Over the past 25 years Sebastian and Lucy (along with the brilliant architectural historian Kit Rae-Scott) have created something truly extraordinary… a new and substantial country house, built in a variety of styles implying that the house evolved organically over time).
